One year on - Arendsig Lockdown update

Lourens owner & winemaker in the tasting room - Arendsig

Arendsig winery is in Robertson, situated about two hours’ drive from Cape Town in the western direction. The valley around Robertson is known as 'valley of wine and roses' and it is the heart of the wine route 62.

The Robertson wine valley is famous for both red and white wines and as well for the Méthode Cap Classique. The vineyards are profiting from the cooler climate at night coming from the Breede River.

Here is the news from Arendsig!

"Some news we have is the fact that
Arendsig is now a registered and certified WINE ESTATE from the 2021 vintage with the first wine bottled the Sauv blanc 2021 ( in August ).
We have received amazing support from our agents around the world but also our very loyal local following here in South Africa.
The fact that our local trade has been under a ban of liquor sales for almost 6 months have made huge dent in our cash flow and financial planning due to the consistent disruption in trade.
Our restaurant and wine shops clients in South Africa is critical to our business and they have been under severe pressure due to the liquor ban.
We also have to remember that this is a global pandemic and not a South African crisis which means that our partners around the world has also gone and still going through very tough times as well. It is not realistic to expect our export markets to save us even though they have been amazing.
The local industry needs to survive and we all have to support each other where we can!

Many thanks to everyone at Arendsig, hopefully in 2022 life will return to some sort of normality,

In the meantime, here at carte-du-vin.co.uk we are proud to be able to support the vineyards and their workers and thank all our loyal customers for buying their wines!

Chardonnay - £15.99
